The September meeting of the Central Mississippi Polymer Clay Guild will be on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pearl Library, Pearl, Mississippi. We've spent a lot of time learning how to make different kinds of beads with our polymer clay but if you are like me, you now have a nice collection of beads but aren't real comfortable putting them together in a necklace, bracelet, earrings, etc.  This month Debbie is going to walk us though the basics of jewelry construction so we can confidently make something with the beads we've made!

Just as a reminder, be sure to dress in layers.  We have no control over the temperature in the room where we meet and sometimes it is hot, sometimes cold.  Best to be prepared.  Also, if you've made a name tag, but sure to wear it since we have several new members (and some of us old members don't have a great memory for names!!!

Now for our supply list:

CLAY:

Scrap clay
Clay color of your choice to cover a rod (guild will supply the rod)
Baked Polymer Clay Beads in all sizes and shapes
Assorted glass or metal beads to mix and match with the polymer clay beads in various sizes and shapes (don't go crazy if you don't have a lot of these, we'll bring some to share)

CLAY TOOLS:

Be sure to bring your normal travel kit with a minimum of your pasta machine, clear roller, clay blade, ceramic tile or other work surface, baby wipes.

BEADING SUPPLIES:

If you have these bring them, if not we will be bringing some to share:
Flexible Beading Wire
Elastic Cord
#2 Crimp Beads
Beading Board Tray/ Mat (if you don't have one a square of felt will work in a pinch)
18 & 20 & 24 gauge wire Copper or silver plated (not sterling silver)
Small Chain
Jump Rings / Split Rings
Headpins / Eyepins
Clasps  (Note:  at JoAnn's and Michaels you can find packages that include many of these pieces at a slightly lower cost)

BEADING TOOLS:

Flat-Nose pliers
Round-Nose pliers
Wire Cutter  (you can also buy these in kits)
Crimping Pliers (may be included in the kit but probably not)

We're going to have fun so be sure to mark your calendar and be there!
