January Meeting Notes & Supplies


Happy New Year everyone!
The January meeting of the Central Mississippi Polymer Clay Guild will be on Saturday January 23rd, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pearl Library, Pearl, Mississippi. Joyce is starting off the New Year with Heart jewelry and/or charms, just in time for early Valentine gifts.



Here’s a list of the fun things Joyce will be teaching:                
·        how to install a hook as a bezel
·        how to add a pin back              
·        how to use buna cord
·        how to drill clay
·        antiquing
·        how to use earring wires
·        how to make a shepherd hook from wire
·        how to add a bead to clay
·        Shaping of a heart to cut at an angle and bevel it.
·        bone/ivory cane
·        small faux flower/leaf cane

Projects:
2 small hearts for earrings, 1 large heart for necklace, 1 large heart for pin

Supplies:
Clay: white, translucent, ecru and colors of choice for a flower- 2 colors.  If you already have a faux ivory cane and small flower/leaf cane, bring those.
26 or 28 gauge wire and 20 or 22 gauge wire

burnt umber paint for antiquing AVAILABLE
sponge
small container for water
paper towels
earring wires SUPPLIED
jump rings SUPPLIED
deli or candy paper AVAILABLE
small flower/leaf cane
light color scrap clay for heart base
glass beads to use on heart
rubber gloves or paint brush
jewelry tools- round nose pliers, chain nose pliers and flat nose pliers. (Harbor freight has a small mini set of these). AVAILABLE
